FDC’s public data are informational. The general offender databases state weekly full refreshes, with specified location, release, or termination changes updated nightly. A future “Current Release Date” is not an accomplished Avon Park release. Florida law calls the gain-time projection a tentative release date. Avon Park Prison Profile
The 2023 PREA audit describes Avon Park as a Level 4 main institution with a Level 3 work camp. It held adult men across custody levels from community through close. The audit reported an average daily population of 1,596 for its review period. That figure describes the audited period and should not be treated as a live count.
The same audit traces the property to a former federal prison site and says Florida established Avon Park Correctional Institution in 1957. That history does not make today’s complex federal. Current prisoners are in the Florida state system, and the FDC offender network is the right locator.
Avon Park Is State Custody
Highlands County’s two correctional systems create a common search error. The HCSO detention facility handles local booking and county custody. Avon Park houses state prisoners whose cases and home counties may be elsewhere. A search for a “Highlands County inmate” may therefore point to two unrelated record systems.
Use the agency with custody. The HCSO current roster cannot confirm a state-prison release, and HCSO Central Records cannot issue an FDC discharge packet. In the other direction, FDC may not have a record for someone who bonded out of the county jail and never entered state prison. The shared county name is geographic, not jurisdictional.

Avon Park Release History Context
The institution’s former-federal-site history can also cause old documents to use terms that do not match present custody. Confirm the time period and operator shown in any record. This distinction is practical. The BOP locator applies to federal prisoners, not a person serving a Florida sentence at Avon Park today. Offense dates, sentence types, and statutory exclusions can change the rules, and a life sentence is not turned into an 85-percent date. A public date should therefore support planning, not an unsourced personal calculation.
Incentive gain-time can be awarded over time or forfeited after discipline. New concurrent or consecutive terms, amended jail credit, a vacated count, escape time, parole-violation time, and resentencing may also move the projection. The actual Avon Park release record arises when prison custody ends.
